guys, im planning to purchase a laptop or build my own dektop.
usage background: gaming console, 3d software (autocad 07), photoshop.
for the laptop, my top choice is the acer aspire, key features are its processor-intel core 2 duo 2.0ghz, 2gb ddr2 memory, vid card nvidia geforce 8600, and harddrive of 160gb. costs around 85-95k.
for the desktop, my setup is intel core 2 duo 3.0 ghz, 2gb ddr2 mem, 250gb harddrive, and a highend vidcard similar to the 8600. costs around 35k-40k without monitor, keyboard, mouse, sound system.
or im eyeing a portable desktop, the xpc shuttle. the casing with some hardware costs around 20k, and ill just put in a highend processor, memory, and harddrive...
what do you think guys???
TIA

I'd suggest waiting on a system with cheap DirectX 10 video cards like the GeForce 8800. DX10 is very future-friendly as we gradually move to Windows Vista. For laptops that may take more than a few months.

For the desktop... I believe if you ask for a specs that can support the ff applicatons at the same time you wont have any problems with 3D and games... Adobe Photoshop CS2 or higher Adobe Premiere pro Adobe After effects Maya 6.5 or higher -GRIMM

quad core for desktop is out there, if you building one for a long term and you have a budget i go for it.
as for the laptop you can't go wrong too much with acer. the thing is laptop is like a cellphone, after a few months a new model will be release with more features with/less the same price you bought
