The TF Movie Leader Class OPTIMUS PRIME.
First part: ROBOT MODE
The packaging. I have read that for most toys intended for a Japan release, packaging usually follows that one will be able to view the toy in all its glory at most angles one would actually prefer. By the way, this is the TAKARA version. The first thing that one will noticed as compared with those for US release is the very obvious japanese sticker at the upper left part and japanese description, etc. at the bottom part of the box.
For those who plan to keep also the box(cuz you might wanna want it displayed in the box ala mint condition), I suggest you carefully cut or peel off the tapes adjoining the bottom covers. Once done, you can just pull out the supporting stand which then reveals the twisties and rubber bands enough to make the toy look like a modern day frankenstein. Or you can just cut or crush the box and get your toy, the black-and-white manual on how-to-transform-your-toy, and the colored product catalogue in japanese showing the other stuffs that the new toy line has to offer.
Robot mode.
Stands round 9 inches tall, it seems a lil bulkier as compared with the TF movie CGI character. Those long water/gas tanks at the back also happens to house the "AA" batteries for the gimmicks that goes with the toy. The right hand gun can be folded so you can have both hands free to hold anything that it can. No waist articulation here, but ball joints on the feet and fingers you can move independently from each other is a plus("This sword seems familar" OP)!
And the face? Only turns sidewards but a lot closer to the G1 as compared with the robovision.
Pushing a lil lever part of gun by the way, fires that transparent blue ala-laserblast part(it only comes with 1 pc. so better not loose it). Some pose for your visual reference("Do you feel lucky punk? Do you?" OP).
And what does this part do? The automorph lever which, when in truck mode and is released, automatically separates the front windows, produces some sound effects of the transformation and laserblasts and, pops the head out.
And in the dark, when pushed down a lil and released..
Hell hath no fury!
