Ice to meet you.
no he ain't Mr. Freeze, call him Oil Slick, Decepticon Master of Vehicular combat and Fear! he likes nothing more than to smash up transformers in their vehicle modes and inspire Fear in them! he even has a canister that sprays numerous chemicals that both corrode the composition of his adversaries and chemicals that induce Fear! hell, even his ally is Fear!
did i mention he likes Fear! ?
Oil Slick never appeared in the first and second seasons of Animated, though it is rumored that he will have an appearance in the third and possibly on the IDW Animated comic. so everything we know about the guy is either on his packaging or on the net. which is sad because i really like his look and feel, indeed his sickly green coloration and ram's skull decoration speaks Horseman of plague to me. he even looks like something straight outta.... Masters of the Universe...?
need a ride?
he's got a pretty sweet Alt-mode and he's the 2nd transformer who turns into a bike (the first being Prowl) that has the modern elements of the Dodge Tomahawk concept Motorcycle and a pretty Badarse chopper....with spikes! picture Skeletor riding the guy. EVIL.
it is in this mode where he really sells to me, since he breaks the convention of 2 wheels on a bike yet still manages to keep that aesthetic in perfect prominence. and he doesn't need a kickstand.
another robot ninja?? hell yes!
it says on his packaging that he trained with prowl in Circuit-Su, wow.
so it seems that in animated, multiple bots are trained in mechanical martial arts disciplines. this is becoming a dominant theme in the series and makes the Anime connection even more obvious. Oil Slick has the physique for it, and though the articulation on the bot mode is good enough, at some points he slacks a bit; the shoulders have restricted movements, the extra jointage on the elbows (both vertical and horizontal) are a good idea though the hands are way big with tiny fingers to grasp his weapons convincingly. plus he suffers that common disease among the line: poppy ball joints. your quality control sucks, hasbro.
Barrels of FUN!!!
each of his barrel weapons have specific purposes, one can contain the chemicals he uses in combat, or a gallon of oil for really long road trips, and the second breaks into a chain weapon that is too short to swing at anything. well maybe he can choke a guy to death. that's how bikers do it.
overall:
for a guy who never appeared in any of the Animated media, he's a pretty cool character, and a pretty hot ride. though his robot mode is a bit awkward to pose, he's still got that charm about him that makes me really like the guy... maybe it's his head in a jar.
