the deluxe Earthmode Optimus Prime is of all Animated Prime toys the most homage-y to G1, even more than the animation model it's based on.
i say this cause of the appearance of the truck and robot mode, of the smokestacks he has , which are not found on the show, how the side of his arms show a majorly red coloration which, when viewed on the side appears to make the entire arms red and the hand blue. also the prescence of that silver on the torso, mimicking the white on his G1 counterpart and the prominence of that silver also in truck mode than the black stripe that should be there, as per the cartoon.

on the figure itself, i must say i am very much impressed by how they managed the engineering on this piece, being able to eminate that Animated feel in plastic form, much much better than it's predecessor Beastmachines. though not entirely exact due to the scale, the proportions are close enough to make prime dynamic and muscular but not too beefy and chunky.
the only problem for me is the spring mechanism on his torso for "punching" action. i just cannot feel comfortable with this type of gimmickry as it hinders the types of poses prime can make. just as well, the battle damage paint application on the guy just looked so god-ugly that i had to re-do the entire paint-scheme of prime, as you will note when you compare mine to the one on seibertron.com's toy gallery. another thing of note is how easily worn the ball jointed shoulders are, and how quickly they are loosened. now this is an easy fix with the super-glue technique i've learned and it has saved this figure from being too mediocre.
all in all, i like this guy. and i do recommend him for trans-fans out there, and my guess is he's the only in-scale TF in comparison to voyager megatron or even the leader class one. i will not provide review for megatron though, seeing as my brother owns him and the DVD. yeah it was my money but i was only after Earthmode prime. ;D
